Farm Forward - the Agriculture and Food Innovation Challenge

The Agriculture & Food Innovation Challenge is an open call for innovators, startups, and researchers to propose groundbreaking solutions that enhance agricultural productivity, streamline supply chains, and promote sustainable food systems. This challenge is the first step toward establishing an Agriculture Innovation Sandbox, where selected solutions will be piloted and refined in real-world environments.

Background

Agriculture plays a vital role in economic development, food security, and sustainability. However, challenges such as inefficient supply chains, food waste, and limited access to technology hinder progress. In collaboration with the Rabu Biru Foundation, this initiative aims to test and implement innovative agritech solutions across pilot locations in Indonesia. These efforts will support 47 kitchens for the Free Nutritious Meal Program (MBG)—a government-led initiative focused on strengthening local economies and ensuring consistent access to nutritious meals through optimized agricultural systems.

Selection Process

Participants will be evaluated based on innovation, feasibility, impact potential, and scalability. Shortlisted candidates will undergo a series of co-creation workshops with case owner, fellow innovators to create an innovation proposal to advance to the Agriculture Innovation Sandbox for real-world testing and development.

  • Access to pilot locations

  • Mentorship from industry

  • Opportunity to refine their solutions in a controlled, impact-driven environment.

  • Participants will also benefit from potential partnerships, funding opportunities, and market exposure, contributing to the broader goal of creating a resilient and sustainable agricultural ecosystem.
